TCSE/GUG Position Descriptions

< Back We have two staff groups, general staff and the subcommittee. To apply for the subcommittee you should have attended at least one TCSE/TSSE. This is also recommended to be considered for core staff. Otherwise, ‘group staffing’ is open to everyone!

General Staff

Group Staff As a group staff member you will need to:

  • Guide and mentor students through their experience
  • Act responsibly around students and provide a duty of care towards them.
  • Help students with their needs and help answer their questions

Core Staff As a core staff member you will need to:

  • Act as the bridge between the officers in charge (ICs) and group staff
  • Help the ICs with simple needs such as getting lunches, running between workshops and helping with first aid, etc.
  • Have already completed a TCSE/TSSE as a group staff member.

 

Subcommittee Staff

Hall Manager The Hall manager is responsible for:

  • Locating and booking suitable accommodation
  • Booking the buses
  • Overseeing the Social and Food Coordinators
  • Compiling details of the social/training program, ensuring no discrepancies
  • Preparing the following documents for the TOMs à social matrices, clean-up groups, welcome letter, bus schedule
  • Working with the GSD on selection of the Social Committee
  • Writing social roster for the week
  • Overseeing the Social Committee and social program for the duration of TCSE

Events Coordinator The Events Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Coordinating the overall logistics for both Supernova and the Closing Ceremony including buses, venues and timetables
  • Booking external parties à St John’s Ambulance, Police Officer, DJ and Closing Ceremony guest speaker
  • Organising catering for Supernova
  • Assigning and overseeing staff duties for each event
  • Preparing the following documents for the TOM à letter, Supernova Roster, Supernova and Closing Ceremony matrices, maps, Supernova job descriptions and Closing Ceremony run sheet
  • Overseeing Supernova and the Closing Ceremony
  • Planning, booking and coordinating all social events at TCSE
  • Working within a budget provided by the GSD
  • Selecting an appropriate theme for TCSE
  • Briefing the social committee on any duties they are required to do as part of the social program
  • Preparing the following documents for the TOM à social week-in-a-page, welcome letter
  • Overseeing all social events at TCSE

Innovation Coordinator The Innovation Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Coordinating the overall logistics of the Innovation Workshop
  • Working with the GSD on selection of the Innovation Team
  • Preparing the following documents for the TOM à run sheet, explanation of roles, other relevant information sheets
  • Overseeing the Innovation Team and all other staff assisting during the Innovation Workshop
  • Overseeing the Innovation Workshop
  • Modernize old Innovation documents
  • Monitor and document the amount of Innovation equipment currently available and alert GSD if the kit needs updating 

Food Coordinator The Food Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Designing the menu for TCSE in accordance to budget provided by the GSD and dietary requirements of staff
  • Preparing the menu document for the TOM
  • Construction of a shopping list for the week
  • Overseeing the shopping for food before and during TCSE
  • Overseeing the preparation of the food during TCSE

Training Coordinator The Training Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Designing and delivering the training schedule for Brisbane and GUG TCSE
  • Planning training sessions and activities
  • Collaborating with IC’s, Innovation Coordinator and Event Coordinator in planning specific training sessions
  • Preparing training materials
  • Assigning and overseeing trainers
  • Overseeing all training sessions at TCSE

Officer in Charge (OIC), one for each of UQ, QUT and Griffith The OIC of each campus is responsible for:

  • Coordinating the overall logistics of the campus
  • Assisting campus director with planning the schedule and composing student letter
  • Overseeing campus staff
  • Preparing the following documents for the TOM à campus welcome letter, staff contact list, school matrix, map, list of workshops/lectures
  • Overseeing all aspects of the campus during the school days

Second in Charge (2IC), one for each of UQ, QUT and Griffith The 2IC of each campus is responsible for assisting the OIC of their campus with:

  • Coordinating the overall logistics of the campus
  • Assisting campus director with planning the schedule and composing student letter
  • Overseeing campus staff
  • Preparing the following documents for the TOM a campus welcome letter, staff contact list, school matrix, map, list of workshops/lectures
  • Overseeing all aspects of the campus during the school days
